Response Paper Slavery Essay After examining the documents in the Major Problems text, it can be said that slavery did play a role in creating tension between northerners and southerners. But was it the overriding concern? Although slavery played a role in creating the feud , politics also came into play. There are several reasons for the tension between the two groups, but the the biggest reasons may be slavery and its’ politics together. An example of one of the arguments that separated the two groups was based on the subject of the South not having equal protection. While reading Document 5, Senator Albert G.
